China welcomes the world to the Beijing Olympics. The road has been long, the obstacles many - from earthquakes to protests. But the people of China have proved strong enough, and are glad to have this moment to join with our friends around the world.

So we've decided to respond to this moment with a unique gesture: the global Olympic Handshake, bringing Chinese patriots together with citizens all round the world to bridge any gaps, and start to build the harmonious world we want to see. Join the handshake, and see yourself on the map as it goes around the globe!
